Orkney Harbour Authority (OHA) has launched Doon the Coast, a local photography competition, and entries are now open!

OHA is inviting all local budding photographers to submit their best photographs from along the vast coastlines of Orkney. Entries will be in with a chance of winning one of three vouchers, up to the value of £100.

Entries for the competition are open to anyone who is based in Orkney. Entries can be from any age, with any camera (including a phone camera) and be in any format including landscape, portrait or square. The only criteria is that the photo must have been taken in the last 12 months in Orkney. All entrants are welcome to submit a maximum of two entries each. Photos can include any coastal images including boats, wildlife, water, people, landscapes or coastline buildings.

Entries close on Sunday 5th June. Judging will take place shortly after where local judges from OHA, The Orcadian and Orkney Photographic will review the entries and pick the winners.

The winners will be announced by the end of June.

Jim Buck, Harbour Master, said: “The Orkney Islands are full of magical wonders, and we are lucky enough to live and work in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

“We always strive to work closely with our local community and this year we are asking them to help us showcase our wonderful coastal environment, through the eyes of those who call Orkney home. What better way to champion our local spaces than asking our talented local amateur photographer to share the sights they are seeing out and about, through their own eyes.”

To enter Doon the Coast photography competition, submit your photos via the online form here.
