A permanent position has arisen for a Senior Marine Engineer to work in Orkney Islands Council, Marine Services.

37 hours per week
£28,659 - £31,553 (including Distant Islands Allowance)
You will be responsible for all aspects of electrical and mechanical work including maintenance, installations, testing, or fault finding, across a full range of marine services electrical, electronic, mechanical or hydraulic system installations. The post holder will diagnose any defects on a day to day basis and arrange to deploy internal staff skills appropriate for the corrective actions necessary.
You will be working alongside the Assistant Technical Superintendent reporting to the Technical Superintendent.
You will have a HND/SVQ3 or equivalent level qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or marine equivalent. and at least 3 years post qualification experience working in a supervisory role within a multi-discipline engineering environment. It would be desirable if you had further qualification or experience with Electrical, Hydraulic, PLC/ IT network systems.
You will be highly motivated and be able to multi task several disciplines at any time. The job requires you to work under pressure and to meet deadlines which will require some flexibility.
You will be able to communicate effectively using good interpersonal skill verbally and electronically.
The post requires the incumbent to reside on Orkney Mainland and possess a full driving licence.
