A new position has arisen for a Business Development Manager, Orkney Islands Council’s Marine Services.
You should have substantial experience in a business and marketing field, ideally maritime related, and a proven successful business track record including, experience of developing and implementing marketing and business development strategies. You should possess either a Professional Diploma in Marketing or Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing or equivalent.
You will be required to develop and co-ordinate the Department’s Business Development Strategy for the range of harbours within the ports estate. This will includ the Oil Port of Scapa Flow which handles a range of tanker traffic to both the Flotta Oil Terminal and ship to ship transfers locations within Scapa Flow, and the harbours of Kirkwall and Stromness which support a vibrant cruise ship trade as well as passenger ro-ro ferries and general cargo ships, fishing traffic and the marine leisure industry. Additionally, you will be required to undertake direct and indirect sales of port related services and advise the Harbour Master on market trends in all related service areas.
You will be required to demonstrate positive growth in sales revenue as a result of the business development strategy.
The post will be based in the Harbour Authority Building, Scapa in the Orkney Islands, and the post holder would be expected to travel both nationally and internationally in the support of the business development strategy.
