Meetings of two working groups of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) were held on 2–6 March 2020 in Gdynia, Poland.
The head of Orkney Harbour Authority’s Environmental Unit, Dr. Jenni Kakkoknen, attended and discussed with her colleagues from around the world the latest methods and technologies for compliance testing of ballast water management systems, the impacts of climate change and aquaculture on the transfer and non-indigenous species and how these can be minimized.
The outcomes of the meetings will be published in two reports which will become available in due course.
